Welcome to the first original song in electric guitar made for the school! The name is ”Mulargan“, and it was composed and arranged by one of our students in the South.

A big Sojammmm!!! to him, it’s an excellent song!

‘Are’are: Music from the Solomon Islands

As students of Boabom know, there are many beautiful Arts that have been developed across the globe; from movement to cooking, painting to music, human beings have created a great diversity of artistic forms. Here is a wonderful video of percussive panpipe music from the ‘Are’are people of Malaita in the Solomon Islands, filmed by Swiss musicologist Hugo Zemp. Our appreciation goes to those who create this wonderful music, and to those who work to make it known and keep it alive!

Human Vibration

Movement, vibration, music and dance—we all naturally understand these primal languages of the world. In this video from the World Science Festival, musician Bobby McFerrin “plays” the audience like an instrument. It’s a fun demonstration that we share a common instinct for vibration—something Boabom students learn to appreciate, too!

Video of the Week: Andy Mckee – “Drifting”

Sometimes it seems there is little to be done that hasn’t been done yet. But the Art of Boabom, the way it flows through various movements and forms of breathing, shows us that there are always unexplored possibilities, wonderful channels that are waiting to be discovered. Practicing Boabom we realize that sometimes the best comes in the most unexpected ways, breaking established patterns. All it takes is the desire to seek and be open to new possibilities.

In the innovative guitarist Andy Mckee, we find someone who meets these characteristics. The guitar is probably the most popular instrument of the twentieth century. There have been many who have dedicated themselves to it, and many have believed that it had already exhausted all of its possibilities. But where many saw a dead end, Andy Mckee found a new path, full of new rhythms and sounds.

Here I have included a video so you can see this guitarist’s wonderful style, and how he has opened up new possibilities on this instrument! The song is called “Drifting”, and is part of his album “Art of Motion.” From the album title, I’m sure Andy would love to practice Boabom!
