On the Water…
Being on the water in a kayak is a special way to end the day. While swimming i had been too low in the water. In a boat too high. But a kayak is for me the Goldilocks equivalent of just right. This provides for me the ability to be in and experience the true beauty and purpose the Ocean holds. Watching the various areas of movement as the waves make their separate pilgrimage. Floating at times and seeing my progress contrary to the tide or wind. Feeling the intent of the powers at work is an amazing event. What an incredible place to meditate while at rest or in movement. To focus on the horizon or waves while paddling. To let go of everything else. Not to shut out, but to just let go. To get into a rhythm where the paddle is light in my hands and barely kisses the water. In doing so to achieve an effortless movement not to be found in digging deep and hard as in a hurried impatient stroke. To hear only my breathing and the fragile crystal bite of the paddle. It comes very close to reaching the same peaceful and content feeling i experience in class at The Boston School of Boabom. The feeling, experience and movements are to me quite similar. A truly natural, nurturing and cleansing experience.
In this my time spent learning this ancient and healing Art becomes a very real part of my life. As such i become a very real part of my world. i am able to slow down, experience and enjoy the company of my environment. The slow powerful rise of an Ocean swell as it picks me ever so gently up and surges me forward before it continues on its way. Sharing its power, strength and maybe an ever so faint laughter of glee. The wind urging the waves onward to greet me with a wet hug of welcome. The sunlight dancing white, silver and gold on the water as it shares its warm and loving light. Showering and reenergizing me as i travel its shimmering path. Both paddling and drifting at rest prove an enriching visit. The stress and frustration of the day drifts away with the tide and is released. i feel a part of the wonderful and moving experience that is Nature. i return to the beach, better for the small investment in time i have spent on the water. Much like the investment in time spent in a Boabom class. It too pays a dividend in the peaceful, relaxed yet reenergized feeling it helps me to create in myself. So get outside be a part of our environment. Do not use it, be it. Feel, see, listen and breathe the incredible experience we are a part of. Or better still attend one of the free intro classes offered each week at The Boston School of Boabom! It is much cheaper than a kayak, it’s FREE! And in my experience it can get you to the same place. Plus it is something you can do year round! Either way, it’s a start my friends it’s a start. Sojammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
