Stillness is the move.
It is time for my second Boabom Samae, and for a little reflection. I find myself wanting to express something … ephemeral. The feeling is one of transition. It is said that we find it difficult to notice real changes in our personalities because we are biased to perceive continuity. Yet I can almost hear the low rumblings of a shift to another phase of thinking, being, and becoming. And Boabom is one of the catalysts, as well as a realm within which the change can manifest itself. I once lived in a heady cloud of thought, ignoring action, but now, little by little, Boabom brings my ideas in line with my body — now body and mind are becoming more rooted yet more free, mysteriously joined through the art.
A quote from this stage left a great impression on me: “The body follows the head, and the head follows the eyes.” Perhaps all our problems stem from wayward heads and wandering eyes. In Boabom, as in life, we often need to fix our eyes on a point, and thereby discover a dynamic balance.
As I move forward in a swirl of changes and challenges, I hope I can always find a center of stillness from which to direct my best energies.
Yohan (Boabom North)
